Description Jon 2012-08-01 16:44:20 UTC
It would be useful to have a marker on the map showing the user's current location. We have a green dot which centers the map on the users location - it would also be good if it added a marker there as a point of reference.
Comment 1 Brion Vibber 2012-08-01 20:20:37 UTC
Should we think about going to the fancy extremes of showing the approximate accuracy of the location information, or just drop a custom marker at the location and figure that's good enough?
Comment 2 Jon 2012-08-01 21:17:51 UTC
I think as a first stab it would be good to just show the marker at the exact spot since this is what most other sites do.
Comment 3 Arthur Richards 2012-08-23 22:25:47 UTC
I've created added a card to the backlog for this: https://mingle.corp.wikimedia.org/projects/wlm_android_app/cards/187
Comment 4 Tomasz Finc 2012-08-27 23:11:15 UTC
We have to add this. It takes far too long to scan the map and find your location without it.
Comment 5 Arthur Richards 2012-08-27 23:24:32 UTC
Agreed. Using the app in the field was over-complicated by the fact I could not easily tell where I was on the map.
Comment 6 Jon 2012-08-28 00:08:06 UTC
Agreed. It should also follow you - updating without you having to press the blue button.
