When I am editing, the text I have just put into the article disappears upon clicking "Show preview".

Editing where? What version of MediaWiki? Which browser?

Google Chrome - Wikipedia (don't know what version, but it happened today).

Only occurs on major edits.

It happened to me several times in past few weeks as well. I am using Chrome on Vista. This appears to be related to WikiEd (which generally has shown some strange behavior recently.)

I am also using WikiEd. However, I disabled WikiEd but the problem didn't go away.

I have stopped using WikiEd and have not seen this problem editing regularly.

I have not seen it recently, but WikiEd has another problem when used with Chrome. I mean that when I copy-paste something, empty lines appear around the copied fragment.
