Some messages have superscript numbers, for example: * wikibase-itembytitle-lookup-site * wikibase-itembytitle-lookup-page * wikibase-itembytitle-description I suppose that the intention is to refer to footnotes, but it must not be done this way. * It's OK to set the notes in the main text in superscript, but the numbers in the notes' text at the bottom must be set in normal size, with a punctuation mark and a space after them.¹ That's the good typographic practice² and that's how it's implemented in the Cite extension, too. * The numbers should be inserted by software. Manually translating them is hard and confusing. * Superscript characters shouldn't be used. In languages that use other digits, like Arabic or Marathi it's impossible. It should be done using . * Finally, some other way for showing additional information instead of footnotes can be considered. 1. Like this, not ¹Like this. 2. According to [[Jan Tschichold]].
