Currently the photos extracted from the featured feeds and shown in tiles on the Windows 8 app's home screen are simply scaled up from whatever thumbnail image was in the feed. This is generally visibly pixelated even at stock 100% UI scaling, but at 180% is very visible, especially on the first image which is extra big. They should be reloaded at appropriate native resolution (maybe grab the ImageFetcher class from WLMMobile to help), which will look nicer.
Alas there's no window.devicePixelRatio support, but the equivalent can be found within the WinRT environment: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/windows.graphics.display.displayproperties.resolutionscale.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/windows.graphics.display.displayproperties.logicaldpichanged.aspx
