Description cs 2012-08-31 05:38:55 UTC
Two users have reported: I cant get the move pages up and down tool or the chapter configuration to work in my browsers (FFox, Safari, on Mac). See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help_talk:Books#Structuring
Comment 1 Brion Vibber 2012-09-02 01:03:46 UTC
Is this actually Mac-specific? Doesn't work in Firefox on Windows for me either.

I assume this is referring to the drag-n-drop of sections.
Comment 2 Brion Vibber 2012-09-02 01:04:19 UTC
pages, not sections.
Comment 3 cs 2012-09-02 05:51:34 UTC
Yes, drag-n-drop for moving the pages up and down. Never figured out what the chapters feature was supposed to do.
Comment 4 magnus 2012-09-02 15:57:03 UTC
I can confirm it is not Mac-specific: I can't get it to work on Firefox, IE or Chrome on Windows 7. Also, it is not only the english Wikipedia that is affected, but also the Swedish, French, and (I suppose) all other language versions as well.
Comment 5 Ralf Schmitt 2012-09-04 14:22:47 UTC
christoph kepper fixed this in https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/22558/
Comment 6 Peter F 2012-09-13 01:04:58 UTC
Fixed what? I'm having this problem today, tonight, right now. WinXP in Firefox, IE or Chrome, take your pick. The chapters feature doesn't work. I cannot save titles. I cannot move articles around within a book. I just found out that I cannot delete articles, either.

So again, no, this bug is not just on Mac, and it doesn't appear to be fixed.
Comment 7 Jens K Andersen 2012-09-13 02:01:52 UTC
According to posts at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help_talk:Books#Structuring and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Books/Feedback#Book_Creator_-_multiple_problems the bug was indeed fixed earlier but then reappeared 12 September. I didn't test the fix when it apparently worked but I can confirm that it doesn't work currently.
Comment 8 Ralf Schmitt 2012-09-13 07:44:57 UTC
is https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/22558/ already deployed on *.wikipedia.org?
Comment 9 magnus 2012-09-13 18:59:22 UTC
Yes, it seems the bug has reappeared. Why is this? ~~~~
Comment 10 Alex Monk 2012-09-13 20:59:32 UTC
It's been deployed since 20:35 - http://wikitech.wikimedia.org/index.php?title=Server_admin_log&diff=51511&oldid=51510 Gerrit change #23683

Is this bug resolved now?
Comment 11 Christoph Kepper 2012-09-13 21:12:29 UTC
Yes, it works for me. I checked en.wp and de.wp. Thanks for the quick deployment.
Comment 12 cs 2012-09-14 07:04:54 UTC
Yes. It works now for me now on Mac. Thanks again for the quick response.
Comment 13 Peter F 2012-09-14 13:10:49 UTC
Thank you. It's working (correctly) for me, as well. Much appreciated.
