Description king.of.hearts.wiki 2012-09-07 00:39:28 UTC
Zorro redux was blocked indefinitely by Jimbo Wales on January 20, 2006, but he no longer shows up as blocked. There is no entry in the block log after Jimbo's indef block.

Thanks for the report. I infer that this was just on English Wikipedia - am I right?

And do you know when he became unblocked? Was it recently?
Comment 2 Alex Monk 2012-09-07 00:45:34 UTC
What do you mean 'no longer shows up as blocked'? Where are you (not) seeing this?

Yes to your first question. For your second, I do not know; I was just browsing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:List_of_banned_users for fun and I saw one entry that was not in light strikeout italics, and decided to investigate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Block/Zorro_redux does not indicate that he is blocked.

I just did a query:
mysql> select * from ipblocks where ipb_user = 'Zorro redux';
Empty set (39.27 sec)

> select * from ipblocks where ipb_user=745793;
stdClass Object
(
    [ipb_id] => 84639
    [ipb_address] => Zorro_redux
...

Basically, looks like earlier blocks were made with ipb_address = dbkey while newer ones are made against pretty usernames.

Does anyone know when that change was made? We could probably backfill if needed, but I'm surprised we wouldn't have for that kind of a change.

The latest affected block is:

> select * from ipblocks where ipb_address like '%\_%' order by ipb_timestamp desc limit 1;
stdClass Object
(
    [ipb_id] => 206483
    [ipb_address] => I_learned_poker_from_wikipedia
    [ipb_user] => 1774933
    [ipb_by] => 676502
    [ipb_reason] => {{username}}
    [ipb_timestamp] => 20060711184521

And the offending revision appears to be 1d9922db6442dec82e4be07c45c2e8a3a2035602 by Tim (not sure about SVN revision number).
