Description Liangent 2012-09-13 08:09:10 UTC
Wikitionaries are using Wikipedia favicons. Where's their own logo?
Comment 1 Dereckson 2012-09-13 08:15:52 UTC
There is as far as I know no consensus for a wiktionary favicon.

Please discuss the issue on meta. and get a very broad support before implement this change.

Then remove the Wikipedia favicon?

or is someone thinking a "W" letter is suitable for any Wik****** project?
Comment 4 Dereckson 2012-09-13 08:21:00 UTC
I would prefer a wiktionnary-specific favicon.

As Bugzilla isn't a forum to discuss wide changes, I would really suggest to discuss the issue on meta. to know what the community want between a new icon, keep the W or remove the icon.

Consensus is at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiktionary/logo/archive-vote-4 (2006) as summarised in the URL. This was supposed to be done with bug 16315.
Not all Wiktionaries have switched to the new logo after the 2006 decision, but for those which did this is an uncontroversial change.

So what would be the best course of action?

In short: open each Wiktionary in your browser, list those which use the tile logo, check that they use the tile favicon, fix the favicon for those which don't.

A list would be here: https://noc.wikimedia.org/conf/wiktionary.dblist

Gerrit change #31570.

I have deployed the change on the live cluster so I guess this bug is fixed =)

Also deployed change https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/31584/ which update the logo and favicon for closed wikis.
