Description Patricio 2012-09-16 14:36:01 UTC
Motivation: As resolved by the Board of Trustees (see: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Funds_Dissemination_Committee/2012_FDC_members), the Funds Dissemination Committee has been created and needs some communications tools, such as a mailing list.

Suggested name of the list: fdc-l
Initial administrators email: patricio.lorente@gmail.com

Thanks, [[meta:user:Patricio.lorente]]

The -l prefix is not being used any more. I would suggest simply 'fdc'.

Hi Patricio,

Per the list standardisation: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mailing_lists/Standardization#Naming_scheme we are dropping the -l so the list name would just be "FDC".

Will this be an open mailing list, with public archives and to allow anyone to join?

Please could you also provide the email address for a secondary list administrator?

Thanks!

Thanks, Krenair and Thehelpfulone!

That would be something to be decided by the FDC itself. Let's start with a private one, and then will see if that changes.

Yes, jdevreede@wikimedia.org

I would actually prefer if this could be decided first - I was under the impression the FDC was going to strive for more transparency, so converting private mailing lists to public ones at a later date isn't the best idea as this could potentially mean the previous list archives need to be deleted. This is something we are strongly avoiding for all lists to prevent any potential breakage of Mailman.

I'm creating this. We have a valid request from the Board of Trustees
for a mailing list, for a group that will undoubtably have some
confidential things to discuss. Whether they decide to have a public
mailing list or not, there is need for this one.
