A contributor points out that the language of books in ePub format is always 'en'.
see the dc tag : <dc:language>en</dc:language> in content.opf 

iPad uses this tag to choose the language of the Speech synthesis.

This tag should be the wiki language.

Thanks for pointing out this issue - I fixed it. The change will be live after the next update probably next week
