During the presentation by Timo and Roan about Gadgets and ResourceLoader on Berlin Hackathon 2012[1], someone mentioned that since user scripts are not private, it might be ok to allow other people to see also which gadgets someone uses for easy of tracking their use. This would likely require changes on MW itself, besides changing the gadgets extension. [1] ~19:50 at http://vimeo.com/45118170
To emphasise the use case, if I understand correctly the use case is not to know how many people are using something (because for that things like PrefStats can be used), but to know what gadgets a specifically user has enabled. Use case being support. So a user reports a problem. With user scripts one can publicly view someone's /common.js user page, but for gadgets that's not possible.
