Currently the 'hide' function is being used as a stand-in for the fact that there is no way to permanently delete feedback. The community on English Wikipedia has requested the ability to do this, in order to handle abusive feedback in a more "sticky" way than the hide/unhide function. Deletion may also make it possible to extend hide/unhide to users who aren't sysops (see bug #40511).
