Description Jon 2012-10-03 23:03:16 UTC
Brion: I can't actually type in the search box at present on our WP7.5
test device.

I tap in to the search area, the keyboard pops up, the search view shows up,
and the keyboard hides away before I can type anything.

Jon: this is more then likely to be related to the fix for 39083
Comment 1 Jon 2012-10-03 23:05:55 UTC
Actually I stand corrected this is also a problem in the non-beta
Comment 2 Brion Vibber 2012-10-04 18:04:42 UTC
adjusting keywords in summary to make sure I can find it when searching 'windows phone' :)
Comment 3 Jon 2012-10-06 00:25:37 UTC
For some reason when #mw-mf-search (the search box) is focused we run
window.location.hash = '#mw-mf-search' ( in the mf-history.js common file- pushState function) which seems to cause the element to lose focus.

Can't seem to get a minimum test case for this yet grr

Thg bug changed a little (I believe somebody is fixing it).

Now when you click search area, the keyboard still shows up AND disappears, however the search view keeps (before the search view will ASLO disappear). It means you can tap search area again then keyboard appear again and you can key in your keyword.

Still annoying, but at least you can eventually use it.. Wish we can fix it back to before's behavior.

Plus (too lazy to creat another ticket):

!Jump back a section doesn't work in WP7 either. Don'e remember if it worked before.

> Plus (too lazy to creat another ticket):

Please create another ticket. This one is about searching. Tickets become unfixable and rather unclear when several things are covered in one report.
Comment 8 Jon 2012-10-12 18:12:10 UTC
This was sort of fixed as #c5 suggests.

I spent some time trying to fix this but it was proving tricky. I managed to get it working so that it was at least useable.
See https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/26916/

I've opened two new bugs to describe the new problems that @fireattack raises:
bug 40986
bug 40987
Comment 9 fireattack 2013-04-05 07:59:29 UTC
Now it becomes that i can't search TOTALLY again (other than the tap-twice problem.

The keyboard keeps showing up and then disappearing.
Comment 10 fireattack 2013-04-07 03:09:14 UTC
If we're not going to fix it recently can we open this bug firstly?
Comment 11 Jon 2013-04-07 03:46:17 UTC
See bug 40986
