Description Anirudh Bhati 2012-10-05 02:33:14 UTC
The Thai community is growing and organizing itself on external forums such as Facebook. I think it is time to create a Wikimedia Thailand mailing list with a focus on building a Wikimedia chapter in the country.

Hi there - per the list standardisation, at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mailing_lists/Standardization#Wikimedia - the proposed name for this mailing list would be Wikimedia-TH - is this okay? Am I correct in presuming that you'd like this list to be a public one?

Thanks for the response, THO.

Yes, the name ought to be Wikimedia-TH and it should be a public list. :)

Regards,
anirudh

No problem, I just tried to create the list and it appears that the list already exists at <https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimedia-th>, but it appears to be a private list that's hidden from the existing list archives.

It looks like it was created in late 2011, as per Bug 30233 and it appears that was eventually intended to be used for discussions to help setup a Thai Chapter. Do you know if taweetha, the list request and current admin is still active?

I will send them an email. Is it possible to make this list public? Or can we create another public list, if this is not possible? Thanks for your help, THO.

These problems were sorted out a while back through some emails between myself, the list admins and ops. The old list was renamed to Wikimedia-TH-private, the RT ticket is #3745.
