There should be a setting or something to set the Main Page on the repo, such as to something in another namespace and have content.

Currently, "Main page" shows:

"This data set does not exist. You can search the related logs to find out where it went. You can also create a new one."

which is not too nice for production :)

That is already possible and done on the demo.

You need to set MediaWiki:Mainpage to point to the desired main page. All installed repos should have that set, or is there one that does not?
