Dear friends! Contributors on Bavarian Wikipedia ([[:bar:]]) have asked strongly for additional namespaces. (Cause we are a small wiki, we need this additional namespaces instead of own Wiktionary, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikiquote, Wikinews) See the community votes below (support = 10, oppose = 0): http://bar.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Aufruaf_zum_Dischkurs/Namensr%C3%A4ume The additional needed namespaces are: 1. "Buach" (talk: "Buach_Dischkrian") 2. "Woat" (talk: "Woat_Dischkrian") 3. "Text" (talk: "Text_Dischkrian") 4. "Spruch" (talk: "Spruch_Dischkrian") 5. "Nochricht" (talk: "Nochricht_Dischkrian") Best regards! [[:bar:user:bua333]]
Do you also want them to be content namespaces (see [[mw:Manual:$wgContentNamespaces]])?
(In reply to comment #1) > Do you also want them to be content namespaces (see > [[mw:Manual:$wgContentNamespaces]])? Yes, that would be fine!
I wonder if this change shouldn't be approved by a wider community discussion on meta. The Buach, Woat, Text & Spruch namespaces are fine, but there is also a namespace Nochricht for Wikinews content. My main concern is Nochricht - a content core namespace for bar. - wouldn't respect by definition the Wikipedia principles, as news content doesn't respect NPOV, could constitute original research, etc. The community question could be something like "Are Wikipedia projects allowed to have content namespaces with a different scope and set of principles and how best advertise this fact to readers and contributors?".
On the other hand, I got the following two community advices on IRC: (i) there are very few but other projects (and indeed als. uses this setup) (ii) a few language community doesn't have the resources to maintain a set of small projects
Right, we learned it from als.wp where it works fine (since 2008).
[ Taking this bug. ]
Talk namespaces should end by Dischkrian according your configuration request. Currently, the portal talk namespace is "Portal Diskussion". Should we rename it to "Portal Dischkrian"?
Gerrit change #33043

Currently, standard namespaces are in german and not in bavarian. I've tried to change it here: http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?language=bar&module=namespace&title=Special%3AAdvancedTranslate But it had no effect. Can you fix this too, or do I have do open a new bug. Thanks in advance.

TranslateWiki is a tool to prepare the MediaWiki's language files, which have to be merged to the source code (this is an automatic process) and then deployed on our cluster (which is done more or less each week). Translation workflow works like this: # A new translation is offered on TranslateWiki (at this stage, the translations are not yet available) # Languages files are automatically exported from TranslateWiki to Gerrit review system # There are automatically merged into MediaWiki core (at this stage, the translations are available for new MediaWiki installations, using the last Git source code) # The new MediaWiki version is deployed on the WMF clusters (then, the translations are deployed live on your wiki) You don't need to open a new bug, your translation will automatically be available in ± 2 weeks, when MediaWiki 1.21wmf4 will be deployed.
Thank you very much for all your help and support!
