Description Derk-Jan Hartman 2012-11-12 20:21:05 UTC
It seems that if the movie is hosted on a shared repo, the player is unable to find the 'alternative' versions of media and does not present the source selector. Sort of critical in that most movies will probably be hosted on the shared repo :D

This clip has 2 webm resolutions, but on en.wp it can only shows the 360P version.
Comment 1 Jan Gerber 2012-11-12 20:54:56 UTC
so this works on test2 http://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sintel_webm_extract.webm

but not on en. what special about en?
Comment 2 Michael Dale 2012-11-12 20:57:27 UTC
odd when I pull up the same asset ( hosted on commons ) on my local wiki it displays all the resolutions.

I wonder if there is some data caching issue. The remote sources are subject to descriptionCacheExpiry

See line 293 of WebVideoTranscode.php, it does not seem to check if the time has expired on the cache? Does the cache expire automatically?
Comment 3 Jan Gerber 2012-11-12 21:13:05 UTC
Ah ok figured it out, enwiki has transcoding disabled, test2 and commons have it enabled.

This issue is fixed once https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/33147/ is deployed
Comment 4 Michael Dale 2012-11-12 21:19:13 UTC
Looks like that will fix the issue. Marking fixed.
