Description Nemo 2012-11-21 09:07:44 UTC
Where are they?
[[m:Wikimedia movement]], [[wm2008:Schedule]] etc. are now only leading to a bunch of 404 pages.

http://corp.kaltura.com/devwiki/index.php/Communication_issues_musings_of_a_dinosaur is a 404 .
Not sure who could contact Kaltura about this.
Comment 3 Michael Dale 2012-11-21 19:17:55 UTC
Andrew where are you getting that link from?

It's in the URL field, linked from many pages in our wikis like the two in comment 0.
http://corp.kaltura.com/devwiki/ seems to have been closed entirely, I've no idea if the videos are accessible somewhere else.
Comment 5 Michael Dale 2012-11-21 19:26:21 UTC
If not other location for the assets, exists I can investigate, but lets just remove the links for now.

Not going to happen. Wikimania 2008 wiki is locked.
Comment 7 Joseph Seddon 2012-11-21 21:31:05 UTC
There seem to be numerous place linked on that page:

http://www.bibalex.org/isis/Frontend/archive/Archive_Movie.aspx

http://webcast.bibalex.org/Home/List.aspx?Conference=6u0LkBzgNlZm+RzGhC/6Ag==

http://alnokta.arablug.org/wikimania2008/

I dont know if this is everything.

Thanks, I've downloaded the videos from the latter and uploaded them to archive.org https://archive.org/search.php?query=wikimania2008%20collection%3Awikimedia-other
We should verify that those are all the videos, though.
And we still have the problem of the broken links, of which we can maybe fix some on our wikis (but the easiest would be to understand if that kaltura wiki still exists or could exist somewhere).
Comment 9 Nemo 2013-02-14 21:26:26 UTC
Well I guess we have to live with the fact that this won't happen.
Comment 10 Nemo 2013-05-02 18:06:10 UTC
Btw we also hope to get Wikimania 2005 videos back, Erik found them on Wayback machine. http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikimania-l/2013-April/004627.html
Comment 11 Ruslan 2013-05-10 16:37:57 UTC
It is trivial to give any user a right to edit any locked public wiki. In my
opinion it is not matters that should be resolved in this place.

Uploading them to WMF is the easy part

Is it?
Comment 13 Ruslan 2013-05-11 11:02:04 UTC
Yes. You only need to assign a user to the local steward group or to create a global group with necessary userrights.
