Hi, We would like to configure a new import source for wikidata, so we can import some MediaWiki pages and templates from [if possible major wikipedias (commons, enwiki, dewiki, frwiki, eswiki). If that is too much, enwiki would be most prefered. Relevant bug (import): https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41774 Relevant discussion: http://bots.wmflabs.org/~wm-bot/logs/%23wikimedia-wikidata/20121125.txt (search "import source" for start of discussion)
Please hold until the following discussion ends; http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Project_chat#Import_sources
Consensus is pretty clear, I'm sure it will stay that way too. If someone could start writing a patch, it would be great.
Please don't use the easy keyword as "this is quick to do". The easy keyword is an outreach one, allowing random new developers to identify bugs they can resolve to get a better knowledge of MediaWiki and other products. There are the first bugs offered to developers willing to join the community. Applying the 'easy' keyword to your request would mean: - you ask them to deal with a 10K9 lines file, which dozen of alphabets used, LTR and RTL. - you ask them to be instantaneously familiar with the consensus notion and to be able to evaluate if the notion have well received a consensus. I'm mainly concerned by the second aspect. [ -easy +shell, confirming bug ]
