Description MZMcBride 2012-11-28 03:13:12 UTC
The CentralNotice extension currently uses the MediaWiki namespace for storage. Today, Meta-Wiki has 53,320 pages in the MediaWiki namespace; of those, 51,147 begin with "Centralnotice".

Because they're in the MediaWiki namespace, these pages are polluting the message cache. Tim thinks the extension might actually be using the message cache, though. So if a possible solution is moving these pages into a protected CentralNotice namespace on Meta-Wiki, a (separate) caching system has to be considered if it's currently in use.

And of course no real major work can be done on the extension during the annual fundraiser.
