Linking to a category with [[:Category:Foo]]. The leading colon is not stripped:

Thank you for this one too. However, this too is intentional - otherwise, it would not be a link to the category, it'd be assigning the page to the category, which will be done differently (a page-level meta-data inspector). Links to pages should not accidentally become otherwise-hidden category assignments for users who do not (and should not) understand the way that wikitext expects that.

Re-opening with low priority. We can support identical rendering with slightly more intelligence in the serializer.
