When in alpha mode, the 'beta' slider is missing -- there's no way to go straight back to regular mode.

You seem to have to turn off alpha, then go back to settings and turn off beta.

Correct. This is by design.
Expectations for what would happen with a beta slider set to off and alpha set to on were not clear...

(If alpha and beta were the same variable this might be a little easier but would require design for what a 3 value checkbox would look like)

With javascript we could hide/reveal the alpha/beta setting quite easily for the majority of users.
