As discussed, we want to emphasize positive notifications over negative notifications, by listing them first in the Echo user preferences. As a rule of thumb, we would also make some negative notification types opt-in, so the user would have to purposely select that option in preferences before getting emails about them. With that in mind, let's move 'Reverts my edit' to the bottom of the list, since it is both negative and opt-in. The purpose of this feature is to encourage notifications that make users feel positive about their contributions to Wikipedia: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Echo/Feature_requirements#Sample_Notifications In general, we propose to list notification preferences based on the order of priority and frequency shown in this section.

This is still an issue on prototype, which has all our latest features: http://ee-prototype.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-echo We didn't deploy the 'page review' preferences to MediaWiki because that site doesn't support Page Curation, which is needed for these notifications. But when we do, we will want them above the 'edit reverted' link.
Gerrit change #40809 sorts them by priority With the PageTriage extension enabled, that means the list ends up like this: * Posts on my talk page * Reviews a page I created and adds maintenance tags * Reviews a page I created and nominates it for deletion * Reviews a page I created * Reverts my edit Does that look OK?
Thank you, Krenair! Just what the doctor ordered. Note that Kaldari and Benny plan to collapse the page reviews into a single 'Reviews a page I created' entry, as described in a related ticket. Also note that we will keep expanding this list over time, as we implement these new types of notifications: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Echo/Feature_requirements#Sample_Notifications As a rule of thumb, we plan to continue to list the negative notifications lower than the positive and negative notifications -- and make these negative notification settings opt-in, so the user has to intentionally request them.
Merged by Kaldari.
