IE9 errors uploading in UW

I haven't yet looked at IE8/IE7, but this screen shot from IE9 run manually on crossbrowertesting.com is instructive: 

* thumbnail failed
* error msg. "Unknown warning: "thumbname, stashfailed""

Note:  Firefox and Chrome seem OK, only IEs are failing

Cannot reproduce on http://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard , running 1.21wmf8 (f49c4f4), trying to upload http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bb/Licensing_tutorial_en.svg/720px-Licensing_tutorial_en.svg.png .

Thumbnail is created, green checkmark is shown, "1 of 1 file uploaded".

Using IE 8.0.6001.18702 on Windows XP Professional SP3.

Upload still fails for me today, I am still seeing the error "Unknown warning: "thumb-name, stashfailed"" after completing the "Describe" page in IE9/Windows 7 via crossbrowsertesting.com.

seems to have been a transient error
