I was just testing a bug enrolling and then removing myself from a class. Here's the class I was testing on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Program:University_of_Michigan/SI_110:_Introduction_to_Information_%28W13%29 Even though I took no other actions between enrolling and removing myself, the following 5 log entries occurred: 18:53, 31 January 2013 Sage Ross (WMF) (talk | contribs) disenrolled from course SI 110: Introduction to Information (W13) 18:53, 31 January 2013 Sage Ross (WMF) (talk | contribs) updated course Global Enterprise and Sustainable Development (2013 Q1) 18:53, 31 January 2013 Sage Ross (WMF) (talk | contribs) updated course Social Work Practice with Community and Social Systems (2013 Q1) 18:52, 31 January 2013 Sage Ross (WMF) (talk | contribs) updated course The World Since 1789 (WI13) (WI13) 18:52, 31 January 2013 Sage Ross (WMF) (talk | contribs) enrolled in course SI 110: Introduction to Information (W13) See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/Sage_Ross_%28WMF%29 Similar phantom log entries seem to be occurring regularly, and it looks like it's something involving actions one course page generating additional log entries for a different course page.
In many cases, it looks like log entries for other courses are created and *not* the expected log entry for the affected course. See the logs for this student: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/Aheberling The student enrolled in this course: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Program:James_Madison_University/Intro_to_Org._Comm._%28Spring_2013%29 Phantom log entries appeared for 4 other courses, but without any log entry for the user's enrollment in that course.
That's rather not good. Will look into this soon.

Any progress on this? These phantom log entries are happening on a daily basis, and it makes the logs nearly impossible to use (and make for a very confusing watchlist).
No progress :( I have not been able to reproduce this yet. I'll poke at the relevant code a bit, clean it up, and write tests. Perhaps I run into the issue while doing that.
I now have the same thing occurring, so will have a look at it.

I haven't been able to find any additional instances of this in a long time, so I'm closing it as fixed.
