Description jeblad 2013-02-03 18:01:43 UTC
Created an item http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4051020 with a single label "Megafancy test item" and a descripton "Used during testing of searching, please don't delete me (yet)!". After waiting several hours it is still not possible to find the item through the ordinary search on Wikidata org, that is http://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?search=Megafancy+test+item&button=&title=Special%3ASearch

The ordinary lookup through item disambiguation works http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:ItemDisambiguation/en/Megafancy_test_item
Comment 1 jeblad 2013-02-03 18:05:03 UTC
To clearify; searching on wikidata.org uses Lucene in the backend and it somehow fails. The terms cache works because item disambiguation returns the expected result.
Comment 2 jeblad 2013-02-03 18:20:26 UTC
The API search seems to work, it is the Special page that fails.

Comment 3 jeblad 2013-02-04 07:43:01 UTC
As of this writing the test entry shows up on the search page.
It will now be deleted.
Comment 4 denny vrandecic 2013-02-07 16:50:19 UTC
Reducing importance, as we plan to overhaul the search anyway.
Comment 5 Lydia Pintscher 2013-10-08 13:42:35 UTC
Closing this as wontfix as we are reworking the search anyway which should fix this.
