Description Matthew Flaschen 2013-02-07 22:13:34 UTC
If on edit page, with WikiEditor toolbar, delay showing guiders until toolbar loaded. This can be done in resume.

This may be a somewhat better experience than moving them after it's loaded.

I'm not 100% sure about this. Currently my experience has been that they tend to load at about the same time. Introducing a delay could actually decrease the value of the guider, because users could easily decide to leave before it appears and they read it.

It wouldn't be a timeout (fixed delay).

Basically, instead of moving the guiders when WikiEditor tells us it's done, it would first show them then. If they show at roughly the same time, there shouldn't be much delay.

However, it adds some complexity (we have to check where WikiEditor is installed to choose when to show them). It may not be worth it if people don't mind the guiders moving.

Ah, okay. Makes sense.

Working fine for me, if toolbar loads, on toro.wmflabs.org.
Comment 5 Matthew Flaschen 2013-05-15 00:25:45 UTC
It's actually still just moving them after it's loaded, but it's either fast enough to not be noticeable, or the toolbar is loading later.
Comment 6 Matthew Flaschen 2013-05-15 00:28:25 UTC
I meant, "or the toolbar is loading earlier". If the toolbar loads before the tour, nothing needs to move since the first position is correct.
