Our colleague Dimce Grozdanoski from Wikimedia Macedonia would like to have a new mailing list created on lists.wikimedia.org, called "mk-wpsu", for a new education program he is leading in Macedonian secondary schools. He and I can be made initial admins (I volunteered to co-admin until he's comfortable with admining it on his own). Dimce's e-mail address is dimce.grozdanoski@gmail.com It is to be an open-subscription list with public archives. Thanks.
Thanks Asaf. :)
Sorry about the delay in processing this list. I've looked at the existing lists that we have, which seem to be education@ and wep@ (the latter of which is private). I don't think there are any other education programs, but is this something that other chapters are likely to be doing in the future? I ask for list name standardisation purposes, so we could have a standard format for the future chapter-led education programs if possible. Thanks.
I guess the only real answer is "maybe". Or "yes, definitely!", since there does not seem to be a downside to assuming there will be and standardizing in advance. I'm guessing Dimce would not object to any reasonable name including the 'mk' country code, so go ahead and pick a standard. But let's not delay this further by waiting for an elaborate standard. Dimce, any strong preferences?
Okay, maybe education-XX with XX for the country code? So education-MK@ in this instance?
Hi, sorry for my delay, because of diff. time zones. I think that the name should be as short as possible. For me is reasonable to have country code in the name of the list, i.e. in our case 'mk', then something which describe the list, like 'education' or 'wep', and then something which will identify the purpose/target group of the list, in my case 'su' - 'secondary schools'. Because of that I suggest 'mk-wpsu'. But whatever you choose is acceptable for me, you have a right to define the naming standard.
How about WP-MK-EDU for general education purposes, so the list can also be used in the future if you expand the education program to primary schools?
In this moment we need a list, any. So OK.
Why not just 'mk-edu'?
Works for me, list created, <https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/mk-edu>. I've sent you and Asaf and email with the list admin password, let me know if you have any problems.
