Description Daniel A. R. Werner 2013-02-11 19:43:25 UTC
The following situation on wikidata.org:

I type "Seal". The suggestion list will show me "Pinniped" (alias: "Seal") as first item, all further item's actually have the label "Seal".

From now on cursor interactions are cursed. If I press the left or 'home' key, the cursor will immediately jump back to the String's end. If I press ctrl+A, the whole string will be selected but after a short moment, the cursor will jump back as well and the selection is gone.

But that's not all. After the "Seal", I type another character, e.g. "f", "Sealf". Assume this results in the list being empty because of lack of suggestions. Now I remove that character again (after all, there were no suggestions, likely I hit the wrong key), now we should be back at "Seal" but instead, it will be set to the first Item's label which is "Pinniped". In addition, the cursor will be set at character 4 (because "Seal" has four characters). Whatever I do now, I'll hardly be able to do any further meaningful interaction. If I type any character now, the whole thing will behave in different funny ways (depending on the action) I don't even want to start describing.
