There should be a way to disable the arrow that points to the element a guider is attached to. This will make it much more flexible to position guiders relative to elements even if that particular element is not the focus of the guider.

Can you give an example of a case where you want a guider to be next to an element but not point to it? 

I think it's probably safer to get tour authors to decide whether they want to attach to an element and point to it, or not.
