This would allow the RSS extension to display images, something that would be very helpful in integrating the blog.

Is there any local consensus to have this enabled? Did other users of the wiki (and WMF communication staff in particular) have a look at this proposal & say whether it'll be useful/acceptable for them?

[[mw:Extension:RSS]] suggests you only need to set $wgRSSAllowImageTag to true to allow images in feed items. $wgAllowImageTag appears to be intended for use in wikitext as a whole, ie. outside of feed items.
