Description Amqui 2013-02-20 04:07:24 UTC
Good day, I would like the Mi'kmaq language (iso code mic) to be added to Commons so we can select it in the upload form to add descriptions on files in that language. Thanks.

[[translatewiki:Special:LanguageStats/mic]]: core most used is 23 % completed -> the language won't be enabled on MediaWiki (yet).
Nischay, where does the UploadWizard fetch the list of languages?
Amqui, [[m:WM:LS]] works with any code real or not (I think) and [[commons:Template:Mic]] exists, so adding descriptions manually in the language works, doesn't it?

By calling Language::fetchLanguageNames() or LanguageNames::getNames()

Names.php doesn't have mic yet.

Ah. Sending to UploadWizard component then, nothing to do on Commons or elsewhere.

Shouldn't it be in core? nothing to do on UploadWizard too

UploadWizard is currently being more restrictive than Commons as for allowed languages; on the other hand core can't support any language Commons accepts descriptions for, cf. [[translatewiki:Translating:MediaWiki]]...
