Now this is in core, when it's deployed everywhere, refactor the code to just be a UI for the core variable.

Judging from http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.21/Roadmap , the core change (bug 43270, Gerrit change #50480, core commit f758ec0d...) should show up in 1.21wmf11, which will be on all wikis by Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
