Text selection is supported in a bunch of applications for Windows 8 apps but not the Wikipedia app. IE10 does it in a nice way, you tap a word and it gets selected with 2 little selection markers go on either end of the word. You can then drag it with your finger to select text.
Hmm, this should work as I recall.
Mouse selection works for me but not text selection via touch.
You are correct sir, I can't get tap-to-select working here on my Surface RT, while it does work in IE.
I haven't found the best way to fix this yet, but the WinJS.UI.SemanticZoom control (seanticZoomer) is causing this to break. If you remove this control touch selection works again.
