looked up Otter. redirected to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otter received: Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 180 seconds exceeded in /usr/local/apache/common-local/php-1.5/includes/Sanitizer.php on line 551
This was a case of vandalism. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Wertywerty and http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Otter&diff=35545540&oldid=35387260 How to deal with such cases: a) go to history b) generate a diff link in "reversed order" where oldid is the revisionid of the last revision Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Otter&diff=35017857&oldid=35387260 Changed "OS" and "Hardware" to "All" despite the fact that I did not get this error but the page did not stop loading for me. best regards reinhardt [[user:gangleri]] P.S. Please open a new bug if you think that the generation of such a link / links is usefull for sysops. The question is where.
P.S. If you open http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Otter&oldid=35387260&action=edit You will not see that the second line is "endless": Tried to paste these three lines at http://pastebin.com/509950 but received Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1877745 bytes) in /home/pastebin/lib/geshi/geshi.php on line 2213 Will not paste the first three lines here in MediaZilla / browsers. [[en:user:Wertywerty]] is exploiting a bug in the texarea box.
i would think if the 180 second execution time threshold was crossed there is a good chance that the page data is corrupt or victim to vandalism. maybe it would be helpful to have a landing page on this error that provided searching of the history for a term. the problem here is that the page never loaded to allow me a link to its history tab. this could also be a useful checkbox in an advanced search... what do you think?
(In reply to comment #3) > ... the problem here is that the page never loaded to allow me a link to its history tab. ... The same hapened to me. I got the idea about hacking a diff link in "reversed order" because I made more similar links few minutes before. If a page as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otter does not load in the future just add manualy "?action=edit" or "?action=history" to the url. The resulting url's are compatible with the links generated at the tabs. In all history pages we have an unused place: the first "(cur)" using [[MediaWiki:Cur]] is not used. At this place one could insert a valid "(reversed)" link if more then one revidions are available. However this is not very efficient because it would require more mouse clicks to go there. "(reversed)" links could be available at Special:Contributions/foo too; also for newly created pages. Last would require somthink as "?diff=-1&oldid=nnnn".
