This happens if the UploadService crashes on a non-network error for some reason.

Switch to Android component.

I have been hit by that issue with some old version of Commons. I have been unable to figure out which version I have installed but that probably came from Jenkins.

As the Mobile Apps Team is focussing on the new, native Wikipedia app, the Commons app is no longer being maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation. I am WONTFIXing all open Commons app bugs to reflect that we will not be spending time fixing them.
