we should have "wdbytitle:Barack Obama". It would do the same as "d:Special:ItemByTitle/enwiki/Barack Obama" but be more userfriendly. (replace enwiki with the respective wiki it is used on)

This could easily be a local wiki template, of course.

Or even an enhanced template using Scribunto/Lua (though I'm not sure the "enwiki" part is exposed anywhere currently... I assume that's based on the database name and is probably the subject of a separate bug).
