Hello, it seems i am unable to unzip the new versions of mediawiki. I do think there was a problem by packing the files. I was downloading the mediawiki versions the last years, never had this problem. In http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=mediawiki I found out that some users had the same problem with the newest files on http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki
Unpacking them using what software?
WFM using 7zip and tar on fenari: tar (GNU tar) 1.26
I tried to unpack with 7-zip on Win 8 Pro 64Bit and on Win Vista 32 Bit. I also tested winrar on Win 8 Pro 64 Bit. Same problem.
Sorry all. Apparently my distro decided to make --format=posix the default for tar. The extra directories should be harmless, but apparently some older archive programs will have problems with posix format. I'm regenerating the tarballs now.

http://download.wikimedia.org/mediawiki/1.20/mediawiki-1.20.5.tar.gz just works now. http://download.wikimedia.org/mediawiki/1.19/mediawiki-1.19.6.tar.gz still doesn´t work on windows/7-Zip. Cheers, N.
I just got the new tarballs copied up. If someone with 7-zip wants to confirm, I'd appreciate it.
