Today, I decided to test if the {{user}} template was compatible with Echo. 1. Using my alternate account, MJ49, I made this edit to notify my main account, MJ94: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Sandbox&diff=prev&oldid=553676120 2. Realizing that it didn't notify me, I saw that I forgot to sign my post. I tried again. This should have notified me, as far as I'm aware: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Sandbox&diff=prev&oldid=553676470 3. That didn't notify me, so I tried clearing the sandbox for a fresh attempt: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Sandbox&diff=prev&oldid=553677997 4. Finally, I tried again, but it didn't notify me: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Sandbox&diff=prev&oldid=553678045 Does the use of templates prevent notifications? Are they limited to specifically [[User:Example|this format]]? If so, can we allow templates as a form of notification?
No, templates should work fine. Not sure why it isn't working. I'll take a look...
Oh, there is one extra trick to it. The mention notification is only triggered if the mention occurs within a discussion, i.e. there has to be a section header somewhere above it. Sorry it's so complicated :P We tried to make it very conservative since we were worried about people getting spammed with irrelevant notifications. We make remove some of these conditions in the future.
Oh, I see. Thanks!
