Description Maryana Pinchuk 2013-05-16 23:29:24 UTC
(Reported by Jared last week, spotted again on Howie's phone just now)

1. Visit Nearby on a device that hasn't accessed it before
2. You'll get a request to use your location data
3. Navigate to an article in the list and go back to Nearby, or just refresh the page
4. You'll get another request to use your location data

This doesn't always happen, as I can't get the location request to trigger again on my phone at all -- appears to affect brand new Nearby users only.

This seems to be an iOS 'feature'. (It happens on google maps web interface as well!)

After a few experiments it seems it might be triggered when you request for an accurate location (we currently use enableHighAccuracy when requesting a location to ensure it is as accurate and new as possible and uses the GPS if available). We /want/ an accurate location.

This StackOverflow post seems to talk about it
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2287425/what-are-the-rules-behind-x-would-like-to-use-your-current-location-on-the-iph

There doesn't seem to be anything we can do about this so I'm going to have to mark as WONTFIX (read as CANTFIX ;-)).
