Description Eduard Braun 2013-05-17 13:22:55 UTC
When "deselecting" the text field of the visual editor (e.g. by clicking into the summary field) it seems to somehow loose focus.

It's then not possible to directly select text (with the mouse) anymore. One needs to first click one time into the text field to be able to normally select text again.

Could you please provide browser information?
Comment 2 Eduard Braun 2013-05-17 15:03:35 UTC
I'm using Firefox 21 on Windows 7.

I think I can replicate this bug, but I'm not sure I entirely understand the whole problem.

If I select some text in the CodeEditor box, then click into another input element on the page to move focus there, then click back into to the CodeEditor, the cursor position within the text area does not change to the place I just clicked at and the selected text remains selected. I would expect it to deselect all text and move the cursor position to where the mouse cursor is. Major -> Minor

Is this the same issue as bug 50722?

This seems fixed with: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/104510

Wait, this is in the CodeEditor extension group, but people are talking about the 'visual editor'. Did the reporter originally file it under the wrong Extension ?

Eduard, can you clarify please ?
Comment 7 Eduard Braun 2014-03-25 23:19:40 UTC
I d'not know why I ever wrote VisualEditor but this definitely is about CodeEditor. And it definitely is fixed now!

Thanks for bringing it up again (I remember you adding the PATCH_TO_REVIEW) but it wasn't merged back then so I couldn't test if the bug was really fixed) so we can close it for good.
