Description bdunsbergen 2013-05-26 04:58:56 UTC
I use this category tag:

  [[category:AP Team]]

When I switch from texteditor to richtexteditor and back, the tag will change as follows:

  [[category:AP Team|AP_Team]]

So, after editing for a while, all pages in my "AP Team" category are starting to show under A in the index.

After some experimentation, it seems that the this happens only to categories that have whitespace in the category name.

Hi bdunsbergen, which exact MediaWiki version do you use? (see Special:Version ).
Comment 2 Sam Reed (reedy) 2013-05-26 10:06:33 UTC
And which "RichTextEditor"?
Comment 3 bdunsbergen 2013-05-27 18:40:47 UTC
Product Version
MediaWiki 1.16.0
PHP 5.3.3 (apache2handler)
MySQL 5.5.10

Not sure how to tell the RichTextEditor. Is it the WYSIWYG extension:

WYSIWYG extension (Version 1.4.0_3 [B268], CKEditor 3.4.2 (revision 6041))

Thanks for taking the time to report this problem.
However, you are using version 1.16.x which is too old and not supported anymore. MediaWiki developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes by MediaWiki developers for the version that you use. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Version_lifecycle

By upgrading to a newer version of MediaWiki you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download

Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer and supported version of MediaWiki.
