I deleted the redirect https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mujahideen_in_Afghanistan_poses_before_inflatable_satellite_dish.jpg and http://www.pic-upload.de/view-19526999/mediawikidings.jpg.html was the result and the link to it was still blue (not red). I also had to restore and delete https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:%D0%A2%D0%B2%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B8_%D0%B2_%D0%B4%D0%B2%D0%BE%D1%85_%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BC%D0%B0%D1%85_%28%D0%9E%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%B3%D0%B0_%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%B8%D0%BB%D1%8F%D0%BD%D1%81%D1%8C%D0%BA%D0%B0%29._%D0%A2%D0%BE%D0%BC_2.djvu in order to get the file deleted: * The file description was properly deleted * Only things like the big thumbnail, the revision history table that are generated by MediaWiki were not removed * The file itself was neither listed at [[Special:Undelete]] nor visible at the file description page I can't tell you whether this is reproducible nor whether it happens frequently; someone else may test here.
(In reply to comment #0) > http://www.pic-upload.de/view-19526999/mediawikidings.jpg.html Please always upload images to Bugzilla. Your link is a 404 already... Would make sense to pick this up if it's reproducible, hence needs testing.
Rillke, in the interest of getting the right amount of information we need for solving the bug, can you please post a/the screenshot related to this bug, and confirm that this is still an issue? Thanks.
(In reply to comment #2) Currently not involved in deletion work at Commons. Someone will have to ask the admins over there.
btw, roughly how often does this happen (1 out of every 10 deletes, 1 out of every 100, 1 out of every 1000, etc) [I recognize you might not know, but such information would help with prioritizing]. Additionally does it happen more often with images that have lots of old versions.
