At the moment we're unable to delete some pages that have many thousands of links to them, at least on de.wikipedia and for a couple of days now (tested by many sysops under different individual conditions - without any success (only deletion of some revisions is needed, of course). This is the case for top ranked pages on [[de:Spezial:Mostlinked]], e.g. for [[de:Deutschland]] (25,364 links), linked to from nearly all articles with german topics, and for [[de:Free Software Foundation]] (49,280 links), linked to mainly from GFDL templates. But the number of links seems not to be the only factor, because I was able to delete the "USA" today ;-) what is actually a redirect with 27,695 links to - just a little more than to "Deutschland". And not even removing the links to the FSF article from the GFDL templates doesn't have an effect. Note: The ususal error message is such as: Request: POST http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Free_Software_Foundation&action=delete, from 0.0.0.0 via srv9.wikimedia.org (squid/2.5.STABLE12) to de.wikipedia.org ([unknown]) Error: ERR_ZERO_SIZE_OBJECT, errno [No Error] at Tue, 07 Feb 2006 03:05:34 GMT
See bug 3576 for proper revision deletion, which is what you actually want to accomplish. See bug 4857 for purge queue, which would make the page deletable in the case that that were actually desirable.
Original issue solved (duplicate of bug 4857).
