Description Maarten Dammers 2013-06-01 20:47:38 UTC
I'm using the Commons app on an Iphone5. The app should add lat/lon info to the exif data.
Even better would be to also add the location template, but a bot also does that if this info is in the exif.

At r1=84813&r2=84892">http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/tools/WikiSnaps/Classes/SourcePickerViewController.m?r1=84813&r2=84892 you can see how Derk-Jan fixed it.

Some on/off controls and/or privacy warnings might have to be around that functionality btw.

It seems that the image has lat/lon attached when it's chosen from the Photo Library (if the Camera app has been given a permission to access GPS previously):

But doesn't when a new photo is made with the Commons app:

Hmm, this could be because we don't request location permission for the app. We'll have to double-check... we'll definitely want it for 'nearby' views and for adding current coordinates to a photo that didn't have them built in already, so if just adding that fixes this then yay. :)

As the Mobile Apps Team is focussing on the new, native Wikipedia app, the Commons app is no longer being maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation. I am WONTFIXing all open Commons app bugs to reflect that we will not be spending time fixing them.
