Description Aude 2013-06-04 13:59:46 UTC
If a wiki is in read-only mode, the edit buttons etc. on a wikibase item page still work. They should be grayed out, as they are if a user is blocked etc.

Conflicts with bug #42656.
Comment 2 Aude 2013-07-03 09:29:44 UTC
hmmm... I think grayed out is more consistent with the rest of mediawiki. (you still see the "View source" tab)

Removing the edit buttons entirely could work also. No strong preference.
Comment 3 Henning 2013-07-03 10:22:20 UTC
I agree, just wanted some assurance. Preferring disabled edit features as well since read-only mode is just supposed to be a temporary setting.

I guess this would need an upstream bug to get solved properly. There does not seem to be a way to figure out in JavaScript whether a wiki is read-only.

What is "upstream" here?
Comment 7 Henning 2013-12-10 12:48:36 UTC
It would be core then. Probably, something like a "wgReadOnly" variable filled with the content of $wgReadOnly/$wgReadOnlyFile should be set in the mediaWiki.config map.
