Gerrit's top search box automatically expands when something is typed in and contracts on blur. It is quite disruptive, because a lot of its functionality depends on auto-completion and on copying and pasting and this really doesn't go well with all this movement back and forth.

Is it possible to disable it?

The feature was removed entirely in later builds because everyone found it was annoying. We'll get this as part of the next upgrade.

Been fixed as part of the 2.7-rc2-505-g7502a46 deployment.
