The assigned to me search that automatically is in sidebar seems to look for things assigned to %user% without substituting the real user in

the "My bugs" link seems to work fine.

Hmm, that's Krinkle's saved search (that I cannot edit). Confirming.

Seems to work fine. %user& is automatically expanded by Bugzilla when the query is ran.

Works for me too.
Note that the search is limited to "Status: ASSIGNED, PATCH_TO_REVIEW".
