Description Nasir Khan Saikat 2013-06-18 07:56:09 UTC
I think there should be an indicator visible all the time for currently selected language in ULS. At this moment when i start to write some text it shows the the name of the active language name and it disappears. This is good for the "Search boxes", but when i am writing/editing a big article and multiple language is using there simultaneously then this option is not that much helpful.

For example i am writing an article in Bengali and at the same time i am using some texts written in English. Imagine a situation that i have written a paragraph of Bengali text. Now i am reading that and i have to write some text in English. i do not know/remember which keyboard layout is active now, here the problem is i have to write at least one character, then the selected language name will appear again. Then i found that the selected language is Bengali but i want to write English text. Then i have to delete that character, change the language and write again.

If there is a visible language name somewhere near the exit box, then i can check there and understand that which language is selected.

Thanks for the suggestion, Nasir. In the design stage, we have decided not to do this, to reduce interface clutter. Each time you select a text area, for a brief moment, a keyboard icon connected to the text are will pop up to indicate that input methods are active, and if a keyboard mapping is active, which one it is.
