Description Joe 2013-06-19 14:56:08 UTC
When using the upgrade.php file to update my MediaWiki1-1.18.1 install I ran into hug DB script issues. It was absolutely unusable. Most scripts instead of substituting your tables MediaWiki prefix it left &mwPrefix.tableName at the start of almost every statement. Once you resolved all of those errors there are instances of unnecessary changes to the DB schema because the schema already fits the changes. After you get through all of those errors some queries just don't work all together and require some guessing and fixing to get through. Even at the end of all of that I still didn't get mine to work all the way and eventually just had to do a new install, which also did not go off without flaw, but was more workable. Upgrade process needs a lot of work for Oracle. If anyone has an alternative method of upgrading that would be great.

Thanks for taking the time to report this!

Which exact database backend and database version is this about?
