Nikolas Everett mentioned JMXTrans which let monitor a JVM and report back to a monitoring system such as Ganglia https://github.com/jmxtrans/jmxtrans

Would be nice to have for Jenkins I guess.  Note that we have Jenkins slaves which are java jar executed over ssh.

I do not really have time to look at jmxtrans, might want to find someone else to set it up for us.

Abandoning bug report, that was just a random idea.  I have no idea what Jmxtrans provide anyway nor whether we will have any use for it.
